Restoration Details: 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda

Here's a few details on a component restoration I completed on an 8 3/4 rear axle assembly for a 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda.

This guy wanted a really nice driver with a very correct appearance. Most definitely not a Gold resto, but very sanitary and only a few guys will even know what's not correct here. Cast iron paint was used on bare parts for corrosion protection.

4-29 paint stamp is the assembly date of axle. Third member is bare cast iron. Pinion snubber is bare steel.

This is glossier than stock paint. Markings not applied to housing yet.

Everyone gets this wrong: hangers are basically always bare steel with black phosphate bolts. Leaf springs unpainted.

Drums were painted red with a brush for cars with rallye wheels, but these were sprayed.  Note rear sway bar brackets.
